Performance of Horizontal Roughing Filter for Colour Removal of Palm Oil Mill Effluent Using Natural Adsorbent

Palm oil wastewater treatment was investigated via a filtration process using raw and calcinated limestone. Column studies were conducted different limestone sizes (4, 12, 20 mm), calcination temperature (800 °C 600 °C) various rates (20, 60, 100 mL/min), comparison made with under similar conditions. The response surface methodology central composite design employed to optimize the parameter. experimental data analyzed analysis of variance identify interaction between parameters dependent results showed that colour removal increased an increase in for rate mL/min, retention time 317 min smaller size (4 mm) limestone, decreased Based on achieved results, optimum condition at 800 (61%), (56%) (49%), respectively, same setup (flow mL/min 4 mm).
